Somewhat of an epic update

Need to update more often I think :P
Prepare for a bit of a long post..

So where to start..
Shortly after my last update (probably only a few days tbh) me and Charles went to Birmingham to go to a Jean Michel Jarre gig. I wouldn’t say it’s the kind of music I’d normally listen to (being into rock and metal kind of music) but I really enjoyed it. And it was even more enjoyable knowing how much Charles enjoyed it. :)

I’ve had my root canal finished and have had time to get used to having a tooth there again after nearly 1 1/2 months of about half a tooth. In the end I’m glad I went for the root canal instead of pulling it out.

Other than that I think it’s more a case of time just flying by than anything exciting happening.

Yesterday I managed to fall over rather spectacularly (should really look where I’m going) and grazed the side of my right hand and my right knee. The hand is looking ok, but it still stings like buggery when touching it. :(
Also I’m not sure if I did something with my right shoulder when falling over, or if I’ve just slept on it funny, but it’s been painful all day today. Guess I’ll leave it for a bit and see how it goes. Might just have sprained it or something.

Got the weekend off, and I’m gonna try and keep myself busy. Got laundry and washing up that needs doing after a week on the late shift, and I’ve got a bit of geeky stuff I want to get done as well. Something tells me I’ll get the geeky stuff done, but none of the “boring” stuff.. ;P

A few weeks ago I upgraded the RAM in my laptop. And I was going to upgrade the harddrive as well, until I realised how much of a pain it would be to do and that I might end up with a non-working laptop. Basically I’d have had to more or less disassemble the whole thing. Here’s a link for a how-to for a similar model, and you’ll see why I gave up on it.
In the end I decided to get a new laptop instead. Found a nice little Advent laptop with a good spec and not very expensive. 12.1″ widescreen, intel core duo, 2gb RAM, 160gb HDD. Installed the latest version of Ubuntu on it and it went like a breeze. Currently got it dual booting with Windows Vista (yuck!), but only been using Ubuntu really. I’m well happy with it :)
Got myself a new mouse for my laptop as well. One more ergonomic than the old one. It’s another Logitech one. Over the years I’ve had alot of different Logitech mice, and I can’t say I’ve had any problems with any of them. This most recent one is the Logitech VX Revolution, and it’s almost like a mini-version of my Logitech MX1000 that I’ve got for my desktop pc. It’s got funky scroll wheel which you can switch between the normal ratchety scroll and an almost friction free scroll. All the buttons seem to be working “out of the box” on Ubuntu as well :)
I must say I’m very happy with the latest version of Ubuntu, version 8.04. Installed like a dream on my new little laptop, and I’ve just plugged in my D-Link DBT-122 Bluetooth USB adapter and got it connected to my mobile without any problems. :)

Nice sunset
Photo of a nice sunset from the other day. Took it on my way home from work with my mobile. Just a bit of a shame I got the lamp post in the middle of it :P
I’ll try posting some more photos tomorrow as well.

Oh, I had my birthday nearly two weeks ago. Had a nice time in town with Charles, Lewis and their mum on the Saturday. Then on the Sunday (my birthday) me and Charles went for a very nice meal at Nandos :) Yummy peri-peri chicken and great company, couldn’t have been better ;)
Got some nice birthday presents as well. Got Hogfather (TV film based on a Terry Pratchett book) on DVD, some Kinder eggs (chocolate and toy in one ;)) a trinket box from the Anglian Wolf Sanctuary, and a really funny article (see below).
Parrot article

Looking forward to next Friday. Going to Hull to see Charles for the day. :)
He’s off working on the P&O ferries again and will be coming home end of May. Think I’ve been spoiled with having him home since end of October. :)
